Eight years ago we came to Bosan with a simple dream: to live in partnership with the land. We planted trees, restored soil, created food forests and welcomed both people and wildlife. Over time we watched leopards, pangolins, Himalayan squirrels and countless birds share this hillside with us.
But the hills around Kathmandu are changing fast. Forests are fragmenting and traditional ways of living close to the land are under pressure. Planting trees alone is no longer enough.
We believe conservation works best when people remember they are part of nature — when healthy forests support healthy communities, when livelihoods depend on living ecosystems, and when children grow up knowing the birds in their gardens.
The Bosan Living Landscape is our response: an evolving place where ecological restoration, regenerative farming, local enterprise, education and hospitality support one another. At its heart we are restoring a mud outbuilding into a community hub — a space for shared meals from the garden, a small library, demonstration plantings, a seed bank and nursery, and workshops in natural farming, seed saving, traditional crafts and more.
Wildlife corridors remain the backbone. Through partnerships with neighbouring landholders we are working to reconnect habitat so both people and wildlife can thrive. Alongside this we support biodynamic market gardens and local enterprises rooted in natural materials and traditional skills.
This is not a finished project. It is a living relationship with a place — and it grows stronger when more people join in.
